Situated on a beautiful hillside and in the middle of a wonderful nature and bordering a pine forest and covered with olive groves, The Mathematics Village consists of a few houses built of stone, mud and strow in the traditional village style. It is 1 km away from the charming village of Şirince (Selçuk - Izmir).
Away from any distraction such as TV, radio or music, any sort of mathematical activity can take place simultaneously, from top level research to elementary teaching. It is most suitable for small workshops, with or without families.
The village belongs to the Nesin Foundation, an organization that provides a home for the destitute children of Turkey. The current director of the Foundation, Ali Nesin, himself a mathematician, is the founder of the village.
In 2008 the village will be open from May 1st to October 29th. You may offer a project of your own (click) or participate one of our activities (click). We welcome research proposals, alone, with family or with other researchers (click).
